1. Destroying Angels and Reviving Nails
Trent Reznor, made famous by his main project Nine Inch Nails, and his wife Mariqueen Maandig have made and released a few new songs as a new project entitled How To Destroy Angels. However, Trent Reznor assures fans that Nine Inch Nails is not going to cease to exist and will work on new music for the band in the near future. So it’s safe to say that nine Inch Nails will be coming back sooner or later for sure.
2. Rated R Re-released
Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has stated that the band will be reissuing their second album Rated R once again and updating the sound on it for a future summer release. It will also contain some live recordings and B-sides as well for fans to enjoy. Though no word on any new Queens Of The Stone Age news has been reported asides from that it is nice to see that there’s something still there for fans to look forward to. Josh Homme is currently touring with another project, Them Crooked Vultures as well as John Paul Jones and Dave Grohl and may release another new album by that band before returning to work with Queens Of The Stone Age.
3. Interpol Departs With Bassist
After recently finishing recording the newest fourth upcoming album the band Interpol has stated that their bassist Carlos Dengler has decided to leave the band. In terms of who will replace him Interpol has stated that new recruits will be touring with the band in replacement for him. In terms of the new album the band has stated that it will be a very heavy record and that each band member has poured in their heart and souls into this new disc. A new song entitled “Lights” has been released though it is unclear as to whether this will be the first single from the album or not.
4. Solo Killer
Brandon Flowers of The Killers has recently announced that he will be releasing his debut solo disc sometime soon, most likely this coming September. The album will be dubbed “Flamingo” and he states that we would rather have preferred this new album to be a new Killers record instead. However, though the songs were intended for The Killers he feels that this album will only strengthen the band as they are on a hiatus at the moment.
5. Next Years Agenda for Dave Matthews Band
So what is the agenda for this legendary band in the upcoming year of 2011? Well, actually there’s nothing planned at all. The band has stated that they want to take a break from touring seeing that each year they do some sort of tour to keep the spirit alive and now feel that they will be able to take a breather for a bit. So make sure you catch this band in concert or else you will have to wait until 2012 to do so!
6. Ronnie James Dio – Dead At 67
Hard Rockers and Metal Maniacs all around the world mourn over the death of the legendary Ronnie James Dio who died at the age of 67 after succumbing to stomach cancer. Ronnie James Dio has been known to be one of the most influential metal musicians in metal music history and one of the kindest ones as well. His voice was so unique and powerful that metal bands around the world have proclaimed that metal has lost one of the greatest voices that ever existed. Ronnie James Dio has been the frontman for bands such as Rainbow, Elf, and Black Sabbath and has had numerous amounts of hit songs including the powerful and highly influential song “Holy Diver”. 7. Get Him To The Greek feat. Russell Brand and Lars Ulrich
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has recently announced that he is making a cameo in the upcoming box office comedy flick “Get Him To The Greek”. Though his role in the film remains unknown we can only find out when the film is released into theatres on June 04, 2010.
8. Bully Wars – Who Really is The Victim?
Axel Rose has recently set up a countersuit against his former manager Irving Azoff for reportedly bullying him into breaking up the current line-up of the newly formed band Guns’N’Roses and restarting under the original line-up instead. Here is an excerpt from Rose’s countersuit:
“Upon realizing that he couldn’t bully Rose and accomplish his scheme, Azoff resigned and abandoned Guns N’ Roses on the eve of a major tour, filing suit for commissions he didn’t earn and had no right to receive”
Meanwhile, Azoff has stated he will reveal his side of the story in his upcoming book “My Life With William Bill Bailey” (Axel Rose’s real name). Oh great, another pointless book is going to be released for people to read now.
9. Bad Blood Gone
According to Slash, the intense departure of Scott Weiland from the band Velvet Revolver was a result of drug usage by almost every member of the band excluding guitarist Dave Kushner. Every band member ended up succumbing to the influence of drugs and in turn highly affected the result of the relationship between each band member and put high constrains on their passion for working together. Slash has also stated that he has no hatred towards Scott Weiland and that he thinks he’s awesome now. Meanwhile the band Velvet Revolver is currently still in the search for a new lead singer however Slash has released his own solo album whereas Scott has reunited with Stone Temple Pilots and is promoting their current self-titled disc at the moment.
10. Slipknot Bassist Paul Gray – Dead at 38
Paul Gray, bassist for the metal act Slipknot, was recently found dead in a hotel room. The cause of death has yet to be determined however it is speculated that a drug overdose may have been the cause as a hypodermic needle and a bottle of pills were also found in the room. The surviving eight members of the band had recently held a conference in memoriam for their dead band member recently explaining how they felt and reacted to the whole situation. Paul Gray is survived by his wife and his incoming daughter who is expected to be born this coming September.
