I Boarded the Fail Boat
I like to pride myself on staying on my (blogging) a-game. You know, updating by Wednesday or Thursday, offering the best in witticisms, giving you something entertaining to read while you're at work or trudging through summer classes - but this week, I dropped the ball, and I dropped it hard.
I know "busy" isn't a great excuse (in fact, it's the worst excuse), but in my case, it's the only realistic one. If you want to know what I was up to, head over to my personal blog in about three hours (from 9 45 on Saturday morning - just in case you're living in suspense) and I'll re-hash the details. But because Radio Laurier isn't a platform for me to share my innermost thoughts/feelings/life experiences, let's get back to the RAD-io, shall we?
So this week, we had a special version of Across the Pond - the "long weekend recovery" edition. Meaning? Well there are two:
1) I was incredibly thoughtful and tailored a playlist to your "ugh - I don't want to be at work" state of mind. (Read: music designed to make you go "I love this song! This totally makes up for the fact that I'm currently sitting in a cubicle!")
2) I was incredibly lazy, and because of a combination of sickness (happy May 2-4 indeed) and living up my two days of good health (I went to the movies and then to St. Jacobs - sweet), I realized on Monday night "oh dear - I have a radio show to do in approximately 14 hours" and made a playlist of some of my favourite songs. (Because it was both easy, fun and guaranteed to be reasonably well-received.)
So that's how it happened. (And by "it", I mean "Tuesday's show".) And despite my lack of "hot new tunes" and abundance of "classic old hits", I feel it went over well. (And I feel this way because I haven't heard otherwise, and I choose to believe most things I do are generally well-received.) But next week, I promise to be back to my "let me introduce you to this sweet new band" ways. Why? Because I'm spending the weekend chained to my computer working and priding myself on my ability to be productive despite sunshine, warm temperatures and the temptation to head to every garage sale in a 20 km radius. So you can bet your bottom dollar next week I'll be bringing the sass - in a DJ equivalent sense of the word.
I love you all!
xx

PS. For the next two Tuesdays I'll be hosting The Morning Show solo since Miss Judith Brunton will be heading to BC for official Radio Laurier business. Therefore, tune in and make me feel competent and generally well-liked.
