CBC Content

Radio Laurier’s Hourly news is generously provided by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. CBC Radio has provided quality radio content on air for over forty seven years and continues to do so both on air and online. Radio Laurier is honored to be able to provide for the Laurier Community with CBC news content not only because of its superior quality, but also because of its national focus and its continuous relevance.

Radio Laurier is grateful to CBC Radio not only for providing news content, but also for continuing to inspire Canadians who are interested in media and broadcasting; for ceaselessly encouraging young people to believe that our relatively small country can have dynamic and engaging quality radio on a regional and national basis, and for unfailing flexibility and openness in the face of overwhelming changes and unexpected opportunities like this one.

Radio Laurier itself could not have been conceived without the inspiration provided by CBC Radio 3, which broadcasts Canadian Indie Music entirely online and on satellite Radio. In today’s media politics, the relevance and worth of regional and alternative broadcasting are constantly being called to question. Student Media, alongside other community-oriented communications, constantly have to prove their significance. CBC Radio 3 has done incredible work in community building across our country and continues to bring creativity and passion to their content and initiative, all online.

Radio Laurier hopes to bring the same insight and quality to our online station and to our growing community here in Kitchener-Waterloo.
