LSR: After the Whistle (Week 6)
Week: June 12, 2010
Recap: Laurier’s Department of Athletics and Recreation was recently recognized for their outstanding intramural sports programs. Coordinator of events Jennifer O’Neill spoke to us on the merits of the award.
The newly introduced men’s rugby coach Rob McQueen spoke to us on his past successes in the sport and how he plans to turn the Golden Hawks squad into a top contender in the 2010 season.
He vs She Challenge:
Dano: Must visit alumni field to participate in a pick-up soccer game, and must score one goal.
T-Mac: In light of her disdain for the sport, must watch the World Cup Germany versus Australia football match.

-Induction Weekend (June 17-190 at the Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Mary’s, Ontario featuring former Blue Jays great Roberto Alomar
-Team Canada Junior Ball Hockey Sunday June 13 4:00 pm at the Waterloo Recreation Complex

Special guests to talk about the highly publicized steroid scandal at the University of Waterloo.

Recap: Having appropriately tagged it as our ‘all-star show’, we had a couple of guests from Laurier’s men’s baseball team join us live to talk about their involvement in Sunday’s OUA All-Star showcase being held at the Rogers Centre.
Laurier assistant coach Scott Ballantyne, as well as WLU designated hitter Jesse Milanovich provided insight into the ‘Showcase’ as a whole - including the benefits for the OUA, the players and its fans.

Dano: Must do a head-stand for 30 seconds.
T-Mac: Must run the bases at the Rogers Centre after the game of the OUA All-Star Showcase.

-Hit up the Grand or Conestoga River for some great fishing and just hanging out in a beautiful environment.
-Try taking a canoe ride down the Grand River using the ‘Grand Experiences’ company outside of Paris.

Laurier alum, and incoming Laurier golf coach, Jim Zwolak, also shed some light on the unknown team on campus. He also shed some light on the life of a professional golfer and what goes on inside the clubhouse and after the game is played. (more...)
